“Vitória SC fans are praised. Then, when this happens…”

Date:

THEAfter a “longer than usual” week of work, as a result of the Guimarães team receiving and defeating Marítimo (5-0) in the opening of the ninth round, on October 23, the coach highlighted that the Vimarãenses are “very confident and calm” for the meeting in Barcelos, scheduled for Monday, at 8:15 pm.

“We prepared better for the game. We used that time to our advantage. We want to maintain consistency. We achieved an excellent victory against Marítimo. Now the challenge is consistency. The next game will be a good test. We are very confident and calm depending on our ability”, he said, in the preview.

The ‘helmsman’ warned, however, of the “very high level of difficulty” that his players will encounter, facing a “well-worked” team, with “a lot of variability in the first phase of construction”, as “is a hallmark” of the teams coached by Luís Pinto.

“It’s a very ‘plastic’ team in its approach to games, with quality. We have a very high level of difficulty, but we are very confident based on our last result. At an exhibition level, we had already shown indicators that we were on the right track. With the goals, the team loosens up more”, he described.

Tiago Margarido also showed solidarity with the boycott of organized groups supporting Vitória de Guimarães of the game in Barcelos, after the gilistas had set the unit price of 25 euros for tickets in the visiting sector, and spoke of “inconsistency”.

“What makes me most confused is that Vitória’s fans are praised for the way they follow the team. Then, when these situations happen, there is total inconsistency. If we praise the fans when they follow the team and then put obstacles in place when they appear, there is a contradiction. They will be greatly missed by us, but we will fight for them”, he argued.

The coach also considered beneficial the partners’ approval of the transfer of 17% of Vitória’s SAD shares to the company V Sports, which reestablished the 46% stake in the share capital, decided in the early hours of Saturday, at the club’s extraordinary general meeting.

“As an employee and member of Vitória, my opinion is that the members are sovereign and have decided what is best for the club. This partnership will greatly benefit the future of the club, because it will allow access to different resources. It is a very important step for the future life of Vitória, with regard to innovation and quality recruitment for its ranks”, he noted.

Vitória de Guimarães, 13th in the Portuguese First League, with eight points, visits Gil Vicente, seventh, with 14, in a game scheduled for Monday, at 8:15 pm, at Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, refereed by Hélder Carvalho, from the Santarém association.
