THE Estrela da Amadora coach, Pepa, today highlighted the “ability to face the game” as the motivation to defeat Moreirense in the 10th round of the Portuguese First League of football, taking on each challenge as “a final”.
“The important thing is our ability to face the game. As I have said, each game is as if it were a final and, above all, we have to look closely at ourselves, knowing the analysis that was carried out, what was worked on and recognizing Moreirense’s added value and what they can and can do. They achieved a good victory away from home (3-1 against Estoril Praia)”, highlighted the coach, in anticipation of the trip to the ‘canones’ ground.
In addition to insisting on the relevance of trust over the team’s own process and ideas, Pepa warned about the quality of Moreirense, praising their individual and collective quality, and the work carried out by their coach, Vasco Botelho da Costa.
“What interests us is what they (Moreirense) are capable of doing – their individuality, collective and have an idea of the game very linked to the coach, who has been there for over a year”, he added, anticipating a “balanced” and “well-played” game.
The coach of the amateurs admitted to detecting some anxiety in the ‘star’ squad, which he considers positive and based on the desire to return to the best performances and good results, after the defeat at home against Casa Pia (2-0), in the previous round.
“We are all anxious and, when I say we are, it is in the sense of ‘let the game come’, so that we can compete and be able to be equal to ourselves”, explained the coach of the Reboleira team, determined to win away from home.
Midfielder Robinho and striker Jeremy Arévalo complete their recovery from physical problems, and are therefore doubtful for the match.
Estrela da Amadora, 12th placed, with 10 points, and Moreirense, 10th, with 11, face each other on Saturday, at 3:30 pm, at Parque Desportivo Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, in Moreira de Cónegos, in a match that will be refereed by João Pinheiro, from the Braga association.
