Leixões SAD is unaware of the arrest and is awaiting confirmation to take a position

Date:

THE Leixões’ SAD, which oversees the club’s professional football, stated today that it was unaware of the seizure of the company’s assets and that of its president, André Castro, submitting a position to confirm the information disclosed.

In a communication sent to the Lusa agency and other media outlets, entitled “Right to respond”, the sports society declared that it had been surprised by the news published in various media.

“If the content of the news is confirmed, Leixões SAD and its president, André Castro, will take a position in due course, adopting the measures they deem appropriate to safeguard their rights and interests and restore the truth of the facts”, reads the reaction.

SAD confirmed that Brazilian businessman Anderson Fellipe Gonçalves is a creditor within the scope of its special revitalization process (PER), and his credit is recognized.

“The recovery plan was approved and became final, with the credits being paid under the terms and conditions approved by court decision”, he maintained.

However, in the same communication, the sports company stated that Leixões SAD and Play-Fair are creditors of Golden Goal, a company from the Aliya Capital Partners group – a group nominated by the Brazilian investor -, for more than 22 million euros (ME).

According to SAD Leixonense, this amount is due to the group’s breach of contract, and efforts are underway to recover it.

The reaction comes after the Central Civil Court of Póvoa de Varzim decreed, in a decision to which Lusa had access today, the seizure of assets belonging to SAD, Play-Fair, its majority shareholder, and André Castro.

The precautionary measure was requested by Anderson Fellipe Gonçalves, who, according to the facts considered summarily proven by the court, granted 18 loans to the two companies, between November 2023 and April 2026, for a total of 5,062 ME.

The court ordered the seizure up to the amount of 2,141 ME in relation to Play-Fair and 2,921 ME in relation to SAD, plus the interest provided for in the decision.

As for André Castro, the limit was set at 3.335 ME, corresponding to the part of those loans that the director guaranteed, not constituting an additional amount to the capital loaned to the companies.

Judge Tiago Caiado Milheiro based the measure on the fear of losing the equity guarantee of the credits, pointing out, among other factors, the financial difficulties of the companies and the risk of selling the Fão Sports Complex.
