THE Paredes, leader of Series A of League 3, promises to present himself with ambition, humility and a spirit of sacrifice against FC Porto, in the fourth round of the Portuguese Football Cup, recognizing the difference between the two teams.
“What you can expect from União de Paredes is a great dedication, a huge dedication. A great rigor and professionalism, always with a high ambition, which is to always try to win the next game”, the president of USC Paredes, Pedro Silva, told Lusa, after the draw for the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup, which dictated the trip of the leader of Series A of League 3 to Estádio do Dragão.
Pedro Silva acknowledged that the team is very motivated to face the ‘dragons’, highlighting that “it is always a great pleasure and motivation to play against a team the size of FC Porto”.
“We have a clear idea that it’s not just any game, we’re going to play against one of the main teams in the Portuguese championship, but we’re going to be like ourselves, with a lot of humility, with a lot of spirit of sacrifice and with the identity that characterizes us”, he stated.
Paredes reaches the fourth round after having staged one of the surprises of the previous round, by eliminating Famalicão, from the I League, with a 1-0 victory, at the Estádio Municipal das Laranjeiras.
Pedro Silva acknowledged that the probability of beating FC Porto is low, taking into account the difference between the two teams, but stressed that Paredes will try to take advantage of the opportunity.
“We’re going to try to celebrate the Cup. I believe, even though I’m clearly aware that the probability is very small, taking into account the difference between the two teams”, he said, adding: “It’s 11 against 11 and I hope that União de Paredes will have an exceptional day and FC Porto not so much”.
The fourth round games of the Taça de Portugal are scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of November.
