“THEI will appeal the decision, which I consider unfair and illegal. I will do it in my own headquarters, demanding that the entire context of the conversation I had at the end of the game, in the referee’s locker room, in the presence of the League delegate, be known and made public”, can be read in a message on his social networks.
António Salvador was suspended for “injury to honor and reputation and slanderous accusation” by referee Gustavo Correia at the end of the Sporting de Braga–Gil Vicente (1-2).
The FPF CD summary process map reads that, according to the reports of the referee and the League delegate, at the end of the reception against Gil Vicente, on Monday, a delayed game of the second round of the championship, António Salvador went to the referee team’s locker room and left criticisms of the Porto association referee.
“Do you a favor, leave the arbitration, falsify documents, you are psychologically in no condition to referee any games, this is the state that Portuguese arbitration is in”, can be read in the transcript of the process, published on the official website of the Club League, as attributed to Salvador in relation to Gustavo Correia.
The ‘arsenalist’ leader argues that the report “is silent and partial” and “an obvious sign that the stance of denunciation that Sporting de Braga has taken towards the refereeing leadership is uncomfortable and must be combated”.
“There are, moreover, several signs in this regard, as evidenced by the internal assessment made of the penalty to be awarded in the game against Sporting (corporately highlighted as a good decision!) or the appointment of the referee who was at Moreirense–Sporting de Braga for the next matchday, which resulted in an error that had an impact on the result and the loss of two points”, it reads.
António Salvador ends by considering that “the refereeing leadership, so permissive and submissive towards others, wants to condition and silence Sporting de Braga and its president, (but) obviously, they will not be able to do so!”.
In addition to the 23 days of suspension, the FPF CD penalized the president of the ‘arsenalistas’ with a fine of 4,970 euros.
Sporting de Braga lost to Gil Vicente 2-1 and, in the end, complained that there was a foul on Pau Victor at the beginning of the play that later resulted in the first goal for the Barcelos team and that, in the added time period, a penalty was awarded in favor of the Braga team for an alleged foul on Ricardo Horta.
