Aftermath of the match: “We lacked in the last third that we had some ability to define a little better. But there are things that were not lacking, and if there is one thing that was not lacking today, it was our ability to reach the front, to hold Sporting back, to be very competitive and, above all, to be very courageous. We look more and more at this DNA; it is something that we want to always be alive, very much alive within the presence of the entire group. And today, looking at this second part, at this growth that we have day after day, game after game, we are not satisfied with the result, of course, but we are very satisfied with what we did there and afterwards. More than that, we feel that the players feel that way and that they do not abandon this idea of victory with every minute that passes in the game. Being competitive in this way will often mean that we, from now on, have the ability to score much more than what we have been scoring.
Did Sporting’s midfield surprise you?: “It’s something that we are analyzing, but honestly, right at the beginning of the game, with the fantastic technical team we have, we analyzed, the information came down, we corrected it, we adjusted it. From the first to the second half we had some mistakes in our preventions, we then ended up in defensive balances, in our defensive transition, to overcome that difficulty. And from then on I think we dominated the game. Maybe dominance is a strong word, but at least we controlled the game. We had it and we were able to translate it later and give our team a fantastic second half.”
Next steps for Casa Pia: “We work to win every game, not just at home but away, and we really like not to hold on to those types of things. We stick to what we have always said since the beginning of the year: we stick to work. To work, to what we control, and not to things that are beyond our control. Therefore, for us to play here or play on the other side is completely indifferent from the point of view of our preparation. Of course, both with more fans, as they were felt in the last game today at Estoril, we felt that inside too. And we will continue to work for them, for us and for Casa Pia to increasingly become a reference team.
