THE Sport Clube Vianense – Futebol, SAD issued, early this Sunday morning, a note, through its official platforms, in which it left its reaction to the episode of clashes between Leixões players and fans, after the third round match of the Portuguese Cup, which ended with the victory of the team based in Viana do Castelo.
The League 3 emblem, which eliminated Leixões, from the second tier, from the premier competition, winning, by a goal to zero, with a goal from Moisés Conceição, regretted the entire situation and repudiated these same incidents.
“Sport Clube Vianense – Futebol, SAD regrets and repudiates the incidents that occurred at the end of yesterday’s match, against Leixões SC – Futebol SAD, which involved players and members of the visiting delegation, as well as Vianense fans, as documented in images that became public. Any intimidation behavior, confrontation or attempted aggression against fans is absolutely unacceptable and contrary to the values of sport. Responsibility, respect and self-control must guide the conduct of all stakeholders, particularly those who represent sports institutions”, Vianense began by writing, in a statement that was shared on social media.
The Viana do Castelo club also stressed that it “trusts that the competent authorities and sports disciplinary bodies will carry out a rigorous investigation of the facts and determine possible responsibilities, ensuring, from now on, all the collaboration that proves necessary.”

With the match over, the atmosphere heated up on the pitch and some footballers from the Matosinhos team were involved in attacks on fans of the Minho club, in an episode that forced the security forces to intervene.
The confusion then moved to the stands of the Estádio Dr. José de Matos, while players and members of the technical teams tried to put an end to the disagreements and calm the situation.
