Aftermath of the match: “We knew it was going to be a brutal, very difficult game. While we managed, in general, we can only be proud of what Torreense did today. Losing our ‘legs’ against a Premier League team and conceding the goal (of defeat) in the 90+3 minutes, when we are from the II League, there is something that exemplifies the competence, quality and dedication of our players.”
Feeling of frustration: “We are frustrated with the defeat, sad, but very proud of what was done. We weren’t playing with just any team. Sunderland were forced to go to the bench and look for starting players to change the game. They used all their ‘artillery’ to be able to change the result. It’s another indicator of what our game was like.”
Look ahead: “We have the players on their feet, but they have to keep their heads up. Regardless of the result, they made history once again. That’s what they have to focus on. We have to continue to look forward, believe in our process and continue to give these teams work. Next week we have another game (with Ferencváros) and we will face it with maximum responsibility, the same with which we faced this one.”
Statute differences: “For a II League team to score a goal against a Premier League team and be leading 1-0 at half-time, this was not written in our wildest dreams. This is not a chance, it is not fortuitous. It is a catalyst for us to continue doing the work we are doing.”
Global recognition: “A year ago no one knew Torreense and now they are known in Europe and, perhaps, in the world”
