POrtimonense and Torreense drew 0-0 today, in a match on the ninth round of the II Portuguese Football League that marked João Nuno’s debut as coach of the Torres Vedras team.
In a Portimão Municipal Stadium with 902 spectators, the two teams were unable to clear the score.
Although Torreense started better, with more ball possession and greater attacking impetus, the first dangerous opportunity went to the home team.
After the 20th minute, Tiago Mamede shot hard from the edge of the area, Lucas Paes had to stretch, but the ball went wide of the post.
Shortly afterwards, Samy provoked a new threat. The Portimonense central defender risked a shot almost from midfield, trying to surprise the Torreense goalkeeper, who showed attention.
On the side of the Torres Vedras team, the best chance of the first half came in the 33rd minute, when João Marques, in the front zone, tried to aim at the Portimonense goal, with the ball going just wide.
In the second half, it was Portimonense who ‘picked up the game’. The Algarve team even came close to opening the scoring in the 50th minute, with a very dangerous header from João Casimiro, following a corner taken on the right.
In the final stretch, the match was lively, with opportunities for both sides, but the score was not undone. With this draw, Torreense remains in 12th place, with 10 points, while Portimonense is ninth, with 11.
