“IThis begins a new chapter in the Torreense process, with the firm purpose of solidifying its growth”, highlights the club from the West, in a statement issued a few hours after the previous coach’s departure was made official.
After spells in the main teams of Estrela da Amadora, Belenenses, 1.º Outubro and Fabril, the new ‘man at the helm’, aged 41, arrives at the leadership of the Torrienses after the departure of Luís Tralhão, who led the ‘gray blue’ to the unprecedented victory of the Portuguese Cup and consequent direct qualification to the league phase of the Europa League.
Tralhão had arrived at Torres Vedras in 2024/25, taking over the main team in January of this year, after the departure of Vítor Martins.
In six months, he guided the team to the promotion play-off to the top flight, which they failed against Casa Pia, and to winning the ‘queen’ competition, this time against Sporting, 2-1, after extra time, which was also worth the unprecedented European qualification.
However, the troubled start to the season led Torreense’s SAD to opt for a change of coach, betting on João Nuno for the succession.
The young coach, who last season guided Estrela da Amadora in the I League and who signed until 2028, is expected to make his debut in the visit to Portimonense’s stronghold, scheduled for October 31, at 2 pm, in a duel counting for the ninth round of the II League.
The European debut is scheduled for November 5th, when Torreense hosts FC Ararat, from Armenia, in the fourth round of the Europa League league phase.
