THE Goalkeeper Juan Castillo and defender Francisco Dias will be absent from the competition for up to six weeks, after contracting sprains while playing for Vitória de Guimarães, an official source from the Portuguese First League club reported today.
The 23-year-old left-back made his debut this season on Saturday, in the game against Lamelas, for the third round of the Portuguese Cup, which the Minho team won 1-0, and left injured in the 15th minute, with complementary diagnostic tests confirming “a sprain in the right foot with ligament involvement”, says the note sent to the press.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper, used in 16 matches in the previous season, but still without minutes in 2026/27, was not even on the bench in the game played in Castro Daire and will miss between four and six weeks due to a sprain in his right ankle.
The Guimarães also informed that, due to complaints in one of his knees, central defender Thiago Balieiro, until now a total player in the championship, with 720 minutes of use in eight matches, is in doubt for the reception to Marítimo, which opens the ninth round of the I League, on Friday, at 8:45 pm.
