THEmar Dedic continues to be at the negotiating table of Benfica’s SAD after the interest shown by English side Newcastle. The structure led by Rui Costa is, however, intransigent and only admits releasing the Bosnian full-back for 35 million euros, according to the newspaper A BOLA, in this Saturday’s edition.
Benfica is refusing, for now, a package of 30 million fixed euros, plus five for objectives, preferring to include this total amount immediately.
In turn, Dedic has already said ‘yes’ to Newcastle, where he would meet a coach with whom he has worked in the past.
Mathias Jaissle, who was chosen to take the place left by Eddie Howe in charge of the Magpies, coached Dedic at Liefering, in 2020/21, and at RB Salzburg, between 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, it was precisely under Jaissle’s leadership that the Bosnian international established himself in Salzburg, recording three goals and four assists in 38 games, in 2022/23.
The newspaper A BOLA also states that Newcastle was represented in the game between Hearts and Benfica, played on Thursday, in Scotland, following, with special attention, the performance of Amar Dedic, who was one of the new additions promoted by Marco Silva in the Eagles’ eleven.
After the match, which resulted in a draw (1-1), but which did not prevent Benfica from moving forward and qualifying for the playoff for access to the Europa League, Marco Silva guaranteed that market situations do not have any influence on his options for the games.
“I’ve already told you that the market has zero influence on what my decisions are. And I guarantee you, it’s obvious that, if at any point I’m told that player A, B or C is no longer from Benfica, that’s one thing. Until I’m told, for me there’s no market that controls what my decisions are, and I guarantee that. My goal is to always look at what the interests of Sport Lisboa and Benfica are and, for me, that’s a given. In relation to Dedic, that was the decision. I don’t care what happens behind it, which is normal at this time in the market too. We want it, there are other clubs that want players and it’s part of what the market is. And that has zero influence on my decisions and what I think is best for Benfica,” he highlighted. the coach of the reds, in a press conference.
Investment close to generating profit
Remember that Amar Dedic arrived at Luz last summer, having been bought from RB Salzburg for a fixed 10 million euros, plus two for goals. If the move to Newcastle is completed a year later, Benfica will be able to triple the investment made in the Bosnian international who was present at the 2026 World Cup.
