You were sick in the morning, have you fully recovered? “I was really sick, I was on antibiotics for two days, they were difficult days. That’s why it was also psychological, due to the tragedy that happened in Spain. It touched me a lot, I want to send a hug to Jesús de Miguel’s family and friends and to the whole of Tenerife. It was a tragedy, very sad, I want to dedicate the goal to him. I’m not in the best condition, but the team spirit pulled me up. Our key is to push each other.”
And win like this… “When I’m in a good moment of form, with confidence, energy and the right attitude, the team is infected. It’s the path we have to follow. It’s about goals, but above all because of that energy and attitude. It’s very difficult to play against us.”
Napoli surprised, or was there a plan? “We knew that, perhaps, they would play with a lot of mobility. The three in midfield breaking and rotating a lot, but our staff, fantastic, were able to detect that and prepare the game very well in a tactical sense. We have to talk about that attitude and that energy. When we are at that level, things go well.”
Was there an attempt to play more on the right? “No, my goal even came from the left. It depends on the variability, on the right we have Pepê, breaks with Alberto, with Victor (Froholdt), but we have all kinds of options.”
Is Champions unlocked? “Our thoughts are on Guimarães, it’s not the Champions League, but our Champions League is also the championship. A great rival, a difficult field, but now it’s time to compete. Let’s focus on the game before the break.”
The break for the national teams, are you hoping for a call-up in Spain? “It’s not up to me, I don’t think about it. I think I’m unlucky because I’m from a country with the best players in the world. I’ve always said that I’m an FC Porto player, when I arrive, I’ll arrive.”
