THE Arbitration Council of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announced, in the form of a statement issued through official platforms, the complete list of judges for the tenth round of the I League, which will start on Friday, at 8:15 pm (Mainland Portugal time), with Casa Pia-Sporting.
The match (which could determine the future of Rui Borges on the Leonine bench) will take place at the Rio Maior Municipal Stadium, and will be refereed by Miguel Fonseca, from the Porto Football Association, who will have João Martins and André Costa as assistants, as fourth referee Bruno Vieira, as VAR Manuel Mota and as AVAR Paulo Miranda.
The round will last until 8:15 pm on Monday, when Estádio da Luz will host Benfica-Alverca. In this case, the judge will be Bruno Costa, who will lead a team made up of assistants Nélson Pereira Jorge Morte, fourth referee José Rodrigues, VAR Luís Ferreira and AVAR João Bessa Silva.
In between, at 8:30 pm on Saturday, FC Porto and Estoril will face off, at Estádio do Dragão, under the refereeing of Miguel Nogueira, from the Lisbon Football Association. In this case, the assistants will be Paulo Brás and Nuno Pires, the fourth referee Vitor Lopes, VAR João Malheiro Pinto and AVAR Pedro Sousa.
Cláudio Pereira ‘goes down’ to the II League
Also noteworthy is the fact that Cláudio Pereira was appointed to the Lusitânia Lourosa-Farense team, for the ninth round of the II League (Tiago Costa and Daniel Santos will be the assistants, José Bessa the fourth referee, Tiago Martins the VAR and Carlos Covão the AVAR), after the controversy arising from Santa Clara-Benfica, last Monday.
The Reds, remember, won 1-2, but did not silence their anger at the red card shown to Jhon Durán, after the final whistle. Just like the Sport at the Minute reported, in the report, the Porto native justified the decision with “imperceptible words that helped to propagate the widespread conflict”.
A circumstance that provoked an immediate reaction from the management led by Rui Costa, in the form of a statement: “How can the referee attribute this effect to words that he declares he did not understand? And how can he support this version when the images do not show any aggressiveness or provocative gesture on the part of the Benfica player?”.
“We are facing another episode of extraordinary arbitral creativity, which requires a rigorous investigation. After the case of Gustavo Correia, in Famalicão, in which it was demonstrated that the report did not correspond to the facts – and the referee deliberately lied -, Benfica will not accept that a new report clearly contradicted by reality be treated with complacency. This new falsehood must be investigated and sanctioned with the seriousness it deserves”, it can be read.
“Sport Lisboa e Benfica demands that the Disciplinary Board analyze this case rigorously and not whistle to the side again, sanctioning this unjustifiable conduct. It also demands that the Arbitration Board not transform the repetition of serious errors into a reward through successive appointments for I League games, as has happened with Gustavo Correia”, he adds.
