THE The Super Dragões cheerleader, responsible for FC Porto, issued, during the afternoon of this Monday, an extensive statement, which was published on social media, to react to the punishment of banning the cheerleading sectors at Estádio do Dragão.
This punishment was applied to FC Porto by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation and will be enforced on Wednesday, at the reception to Académico de Viseu for the League Cup.
“The current Super Dragões Management expresses its deepest indignation and revolt at the decision to close the sectors currently occupied by our fans at Estádio do Dragão. An absurd, incomprehensible and grossly unfair punishment!”, can be read in the statement.
The Super Dragons remember that, at the time of the events that led to this punishment, they did not exist as a fan base.
“August 30, 2025, the date of the events at Sporting–FC Porto, in Alvalade. On that date we did not exist as an officially recognized fan base. We did not even have members, we did not receive tickets, we did not have assigned sectors and we could not even use banners or flags. Tickets for Alvalade were sold exclusively to FC Porto members, without any intervention from our association. The sectors now closed at Estádio do Dragão were also not occupied by our fan base at the time of the events, precisely because there was no protocol with the club. October 1, 2025 – Only on this date was the protocol that formalized our institutional relationship with FC Porto signed”, continues the fans.
“How can we be held responsible for events that occurred when we didn’t even exist as a recognized structure? What kind of justice is this? What criteria are these? Is it enough for there to be a cheerleader today to be held responsible for everything that happened yesterday? It seems that, for those who apply the punishments, the cheerleaders are always guilty. Even when they didn’t exist”, they ask.
“We do not excuse incorrect behavior. The person involved was identified and taken to court. But we refuse to allow thousands of fans to be penalized indiscriminately. The current Super Dragões Management has demonstrated, with their attitudes, absolute dedication, unwavering respect and unconditional loyalty to FC Porto, building a solid relationship of trust, dialogue and unity with the club’s current management. Our commitment to FC Porto is unquestionable. We assume the responsibilities that belong to us. We will never accept being punished for a reality in which we did not exist. We do not ask for privileges. We do not accept being blamed for convenience”, they conclude.
It should be noted that FC Porto will face Académico de Viseu, counting for the quarter-finals of the League Cup, next Wednesday, starting at 8:30 pm (Mainland Portugal time), at Estádio do Dragão, in Porto. The referee of the match is Sérgio Guelho.
