Analysis: “There was, at times, some uneasiness. The ball didn’t go in, we conceded two goals in two moves that Académico had in our goal. Two balls from a runner, from a cross… Conceding a goal in the initial phase caused some uneasiness, and it was noticed in the game, more in the decision-making in the last third. We created many situations close to Académico’s goal. Some to our demerit, others to the merit of the opponent were stopped. We were unable to reach the end with the result in our favor”.
The 1-2 goal: “It’s natural that maturity or calm didn’t exist, but it was part of the game. We were there in a good moment on our part and we wanted to go after the victory, the 2-1. When no one expected it, we conceded 1-2 and knocked that confidence down. It’s natural that the team, afterwards, started to lose that confidence and that calm. Even so, we tried, we ran, we tried to create a lot of corridor and crossing play, hence the options in the area a little earlier, but it didn’t arrive”.
Lack of confidence: “It’s natural that, here or there, it affects. It’s part of being human. I can’t point out anything. They tried to do their best, they tried to reach the goal, to create situations that we asked for, especially from the corridor… We created a lot, but we weren’t happy with the shots”.
Recipe to get around: “Work and believe, always believing and working. There is no other remedy than daily work and regaining that individual and collective trust above all else.”
White scarves: “The fans’ dissatisfaction is completely natural. We have to understand. We are at a big club, the pressure is daily. It would be bad if there was no dissatisfaction. We didn’t win, it’s natural that it exists. I don’t know if it’s fair or not. It’s natural and I deal with it well.”
