THE Lusitânia de Lourosa regained command of the II Football League today, equaling Sporting B’s 18 points, after drawing at Felgueiras (2-2), in the eighth round, having wasted the advantage they had at half-time.
More offensive in the first half, the hosts took the lead in the 21st minute, through Tiago Leite, but Lourosa’s ‘lions’ turned it around through Bruno Faria, at 43, and Mika Borges, at 45+8, before the Felgueirense striker scored twice, at 47.
Despite giving up the first points playing away, the team coached by Ricardo Silva remains undefeated and returns to the top of the table, while the team coached by Moreno ended a cycle of three consecutive defeats in the championship and occupies 15th place, with seven points.
After 20 minutes of playing in the opponent’s midfield, but with no chances, the team coached by Moreno scored on the first blatant opportunity they created, with Tiago Leite, after a decisive pass from Lucas Duarte, making the ball fly over goalkeeper Brian Araújo and scoring his first goal in the championship.
Forced to introduce Gabriel Souza in goal, after the clash between Brian Araújo and Tiago Leite that interrupted the match for five minutes, Lusitânia reacted after the 35th minute, still in time to ‘turn the result around’ until half-time.
Mika Borges was the protagonist of the turnaround, by taking the corner that created the equalizer, sealed with a well-timed deflection by Bruno Faria at the far post, after Ricardinho’s header, and by scoring with a direct free kick in the ‘last breath’ of the first half, in which Pasinato could have done better.
After hitting the post, with a ‘shot’ from distance by Francisco França, at 45+1 minutes, between the two goals conceded, Felgueiras opened the second half with the equalizing goal, with a header from Tiago Leite in response to Filipe Cruz’s cross from the right.
The quality of the match decreased as the clock ticked down, with each team having an opportunity to break the tie: João Silva threatened for Lusitânia in the 76th minute, with a shot for Pasinato’s instinctive defense, before Felgueirense’s Mario Rivas hit the post, in the 88th minute, in a game in which there was also a sixth substitution at Lourosa, following the apparently serious injury of newly introduced Danny, in the 84th minute.
