Boss returns… with company? FC Porto’s probable eleven against PSV

Date:

THE FC Porto has a meeting with PSV scheduled for 8pm (Mainland Portugal time) this Tuesday, and they have little choice but to win, after the defeats suffered in the first two rounds of the Champions League league phase, against Manchester City (0-2) and the visit to Real Betis (3-2).

The blue and whites remain with the count at ‘zero’, and share the last places in the table with Internazionale, Slavia Praga, Napoli, LASK Linkz, Lille, Galatasaray and Slovan Bratislava, a scenario that is not ideal at all, so it will be no surprise that Francesco Farioli makes a whole series of changes to the starting eleven.

Jan Bednarek, who served the second of two suspended games, during the trip to Estadio de La Cartuja, is free and has an ‘open path’ to the starting line-up in the center of defense, where he will replace the duo with compatriot Jakub Kiwior, who gave so much joy to the Dragons’ fans, in the last 2026/27 sports season.

Oskar Pietuszewski and Samu Aghehowa, on the other hand, are fully recovered from the physical problems that ‘tormented’ them, so they are looking for the opportunity to start playing again, especially because their respective competitors (Borja Sainz and André Silva) are not going through a good sporting moment.

Out of the reckoning for the clash at Estádio do Dragão are, without a doubt, Portuguese midfielder Vasco Sousa and Brazilian winger William Gomes, who continue to recover from injury, and it is, for now, unknown when they will receive the ‘green light’ to be able to reintegrate into the main squad of the defending national champions.

FC Porto-PSV will have a 100% German refereeing team, led by Daniel Sieber, who will have Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn as assistants, Max Burda as fourth referee, Soren Storks as VAR and, finally, Robert Schroder as AVAR.
