Torreense in numerical inferiority rescues draw in compensation

Date:

ANDIn a game played at the Estádio Dr. Carlos Osório, in Oliveira de Azeméis, which served as a ‘borrowed’ home for the ‘azul-grená’ team, the Penafidelenses scored through Max Svensson, in the ninth minute, and Davo, in the 16th minute, before the Torres Vedras team recovered through Costinha, in the 49th minute, and Dany Jean, in the 90+3.

The Torres Vedras team even started better, with two clear opportunities in the opening minutes, one of which was through a shot at the post by Luis Quintero, after just seven minutes.

However, the Reds opened the scoring two minutes later, when Carbonell concluded an excellent combination with a pass to isolate Svensson and the Spanish reinforcement, arrived from Casa Pia, did not waste just the goalkeeper in front of him.

In the 16th minute, they extended their lead with a header from Davo, who appeared unmarked inside the area, responding in the best way to a cross from the right.

Upon returning from the locker room, Torreense got better at trying to reverse the adverse result and scored following a rehearsed short corner play, in which Costinha appeared in a forward position to shoot into the back of the net.

If the mission of the team led by Luís Tralhão was already difficult, in the race against losses, the expulsion of Stopira, in the 72nd minute, due to the accumulation of yellow cards, made the task even more adverse.

Even so, against the flow of the game, Torreense reached a draw, following a notable incursion by Baradji, with the ball falling to Dany Jean, who only had to pull over just before the final whistle.

With this equality, the two teams made their debut in scoring in the 2026/27 edition of the II League, after losing their respective matches in the opening round.
